What is Brakes for Breasts?

Dr. Vincent Tuohy and his team at the Cleveland Clinic are working on a Breast Cancer Vaccine. Brakes for Breasts is pairing with Independent Auto Repair Shops across the U.S. and Canada during October to raise funds for this research. For every brake service performed at a participating shop, the customer will receive their brake pads or shoes for free and just pay for the labor and other parts. Each shop will donate 10% of that brake service to The Cleveland Clinic Breast Cancer Vaccine Research Fund.

Breast Cancer Research

According to BreastCancer.Org, more than 3.8 million women currently have a history of breast cancer in the United States. This includes women actively receiving treatment and women who have completed treatment. Over 43,000 women in the United States are expected to die in 2021 from breast cancer. Continued research, early detection, and more treatment options are vitally important to lowering these numbers.

4 Signs You Need New Brake Pads

The brakes are your first line of defense when you drive your car. If they are not working correctly, the chance of becoming involved in a severe accident increases drastically. All brake pads eventually wear down, causing less efficient braking. Motorists should be aware of the following warning signs that occur from worn-out brake pads.

1. Screeching or grinding

When you hear squealing or screeching sounds while applying the brakes, your pads are nearing the end of their life. Once the brake pads are less than 0.1 inches thick, it is time for replacements. If you hear grinding sounds when you use the brakes, the pads are probably entirely gone, and you are grinding away at the rotors.

2. Dashboard ABS warning light is lit

Is the ABS or Brake light lit in the dash? Schedule a diagnostic service to find the cause.

3. Need more pressure on the brake pedal

If more pressure on the brake pedal is required to slow down or stop, you should schedule a service to determine the cause.

4. Brake pedal feels different, vibrates, or is less responsive

Any time your brakes start feeling different or do not respond normally, they should be inspected as soon as possible.
